GTO Tasks Complete Guideline:
GTO Tasks Introduction & My ISSB Experience:
Are you ready for your ISSB tests? Still preparing for ISSB? Have you received your ISSB instructions letter and are a bit worried about ISSB test? Say “No More”. In this post ” How to clear ISSB easily “, I will be telling you some golden tips which would surely increase 70% of your ISSB clearance chances and not just clearance; getting you a “Recommended Letter” with flying colours. Many people asked me about ISSB tips so I decided to write a post for everyone!
Please share this post with others fellows out there to ease them with their tensions.
Thanks to Allah Almighty, I received my “Recommendation Letter” and when my dad asked about my status through a clerk from GHQ, I was “Strongly Recommended”. I went to ISSB Kohat on 11-15 January 2018. I was from the first batch. I applied for 141 PMA Long Course but it doesn’t matter which course you are applying for, ISSB remains the same as it has been for the past 5-10 years.
First of all, before starting anything, I want you to realize that ISSB IS NOT A GENERAL KNOWLEDGE TEST, NOR IT IS A FSC OR MATRIC TEST, NOR A TOTAL PHYSICAL TEST. ISSB is a “GENERAL ABILITY” test. By GENERAL ABILITY, I mean your aptitude, your mental and physical ability to tackle a situation. Of course you can’t create this ability merely in one day or one week. It is a summary of all your life. But Yeah, YOU CAN TRICK THEM BY USING THESE TIPS!
1. GTO Indoor Tasks
2:Semi or half Group task (Tricky one)
3:Command task(Your own task in which you would be a leader of ur group)
4:Final group task (English + Relaxation)
Now GTO will take you to the task area and will brief you like this....(Gentleman this is your task....You can see white lines in the start and at the end ....This is ur starting line and in the end That is your finishing line...You can see some platforms red,blue white etc...(RED IS ALWAYS OUT OF BOUND...BLUE may inbound for equipments.....WHITE and YELLOW is INBOUND for your body...and remember all ground except platforms is OUT OF BOUND for your body and equipments.....) Your have to take all equipments along with your group fellows and cross the finishing line......bla bla bla....)
ANYTHING YOU DO AGAINST GTO INSTRUCTIONS WILL BE CONSIDERED AS FOUL....
While listening to the GTO's instructions .(Listen carefully that Jumping and throwing is allowed or not)..then...in the meanwhile try to make good plan in your mind for the task....(The task may have 2 ways right or left.....Here check which way is possible...Dont go for easy one ok Look for possible way out.......) After that when GTO's instruction is over and GTO says "Gentleman your time starts now"..and he will sit on the chair adjacent to your task with black glasses to observe you.
REMEMBER Don't rush towards the equipments rather be a prominent group member and try to tell them your plan,try to convince them and try to influence them so that they listen to you...and your plan is applied in that about your plan but your plan should be APPLICABLE.....In this case you would become a type of leader and that is the way to get recommendation from GTO....and good remarks from him...
GTO Tasks Division:
GTO stands for "Group Testing Officer" who conducts different tests at ISSB in a group to check a candidate's participation and level of managing, leading and working with others. GTO tasks are divided into 2 categories which are:
1. GTO Indoor Tasks
2. GTO Outdoor Tasks
GTO TASKS IN ISSB:
Outdoor tasks in which your influencing ability,creativity,planning ability ,cooperation with group fellows, and Leadership qualities are checked....TOTAL GTO TASKS:
1:Progressive Group task (3 stages)2:Semi or half Group task (Tricky one)
3:Command task(Your own task in which you would be a leader of ur group)
4:Final group task (English + Relaxation)
I will be posting them one by one....
1:PROGRESSIVE GROUP TASK:
First of all there would be progressive task...Consisting of 3 stages...one after another....If your group clear first stage then only you can go to the 2nd stage...And same is the case with 3rd stage as well......Time for this task is 40 Minutes....But GTO can say "wind up" anytime he wants before your time is over....Now GTO will take you to the task area and will brief you like this....(Gentleman this is your task....You can see white lines in the start and at the end ....This is ur starting line and in the end That is your finishing line...You can see some platforms red,blue white etc...(RED IS ALWAYS OUT OF BOUND...BLUE may inbound for equipments.....WHITE and YELLOW is INBOUND for your body...and remember all ground except platforms is OUT OF BOUND for your body and equipments.....) INSTRUCTIONS FOR GTO TASKS:
1:Listen to the instructions carefully specially (Jumping and throwing allowed or not)
2:Look at the task carefully all platforms and make some good plan to cross it
3:Speak loudly and clearly while calling your group fellow
4:Never show selfish behavior....otherwise GTO will ruin you...
5:Don't look at the GTO...let him do his own job and you do your own job
6:If you fall from a platform sometime...Dont panic....just say "Sorry sir 'foul' and continue again"
7:Try to commit less fouls..
8:Enter in the task first and take the initiative..
9:Help your fellow as much as you can....Help them in carrying heavy equipments like drum etc
10:Come out of the task when all your group fellows has crossed finishing line....
11:Be very careful in handling equipments and throwing them..If throwing is allowed
12:Try to make best plan in which the task is completed in less time...
13:Try to be polite with your group fellows.....
14:Dont try to cross the finishing line selfishly even if you can....First help your group fellows to cross and then at the end you cross ....If possible...

DAY OF ARRIVAL:
We reached ISSB. After checking of luggage we were allowed to enter.
We were told to leave our luggage in a room and we went central hall. It was about 12.00.
They checked out documents. Gave us chest no.
We paid 105 Rs. They snapped out photos. We filled some documents. It was ended at 9.00 pm.
After it we took dinner, went to our allotted rooms.
IMPORTANT POINTS OF THE DAY:
1. your relatives in army, their rank , arm , field, etc.
2. Your favorite personality, reason.
3. Games you played.
4. Hobbies.
5. Family financial structure.
6. An important event of your life. (event is to be write in 4 mins)
-this date was very relaxed
1st DAY:
They awoke us at 5.00 am. We offered prayer. Prepared ourselves . Did breakfast. And went to central hall.
There were psychologists and other staff also.
Today was written tests.
1. Amplitude test.:
Same as the test we did in initial. ( ISSB repeating students do not do this test)
-107 mathematical mcqs
To do in 30 mins
-100 verbal mcqs
30 mins.
-mechanical altitude test
30 mcqs
In 10 minds
2) SENTENCE COMPLETION:
2 sheets of Urdu
25 incomplete sentences each
To do in 6 mins each.
2 sheets in English
25 sentences each
6 mins each
3)WORD ASSOCIATION:
100 words to complete in 10 seconds each.
They were shown on projector and after every ten seconds there were a BELL.
ADVICE:
do not stuck on a sentence just leave it.
4) STORY WRITING:
4 stories to write on blank pages
The picture will be shown for 30 seconds and u must write story in 3.30 minutes.
Samples:
Friends on a visit.
A jolly baby with a person.
A person with another.
an old man
Etc.
They will give you 2 sentences which are half and by completing it you creates a story in 4 mins each.

I saw a girl walking alone on the path and i ..........
5) MERITS & DEMERITS. :
We were given 4 mins to write our merits and demerits.
2nd day:
It was for GTO tasks.
We prepared ourselves and went to central hall.
GTOs were coming one after one and calling students by their chest no.
They took us to a room have us new chest no.
Had a little introduction. Then group discussion started. Every talk was in Urdu.

Then one student was given a topic he went out side.
When he came other student with another topic went outside and the outsider came and deliver speech in Urdu in 2 minutes. 2nd person had prepared it's speech in 2 mins . So this continued

-Dolat izzet rishty preferences.

Then military planning.
We were given 15 mins to discuss and then one of us presented it to GTO.
ADVICE : usually in group, students do not show unity and have their own point of view. So do calculation yourself so that you can present a more efficient plan.usual it does not completes. So no tension if doesn't complete
OUT DOOR TASKS:
We changed clothes and wore PT kit. Went to GTO. He took us to task area. Our group was consist of 10 boys.
He told us every detail about PROGRESIVE GROUP TASK.
It had the parts. We had to teach ending line with all fellows and drum ,planks and rope .
He gave 40 mins. By working mutually and using brain we reached almost end of 2nd part while 3rd part was left , he told us your times up.
Almost all GTO did same to their groups. Even time was not over. He asked questions during task like "chest no 5 ap agy q ni ja rhy,
Chest no 7 aagy kya karen gy ab kya plan h."
Then HALF GROUP task. Our group was divided into 3 small groups .
One by one we did that task in 8mins . That task was not even completed. It does not matters.
Now we prepared for interview.
Some groups were giving interview to physiologist.
Some to deputy president .
We gave to phychologyst. He asked mostly about personal.
Focused on family finance.
Possible questions.
It took just 5 mins.
His questions are based on the written test we do a day before.

So day ended. We were free at 2.00 pm
3RD DAY:
we wore our PT kit. After breakfast at 7 . We went to central hall.
They shown us the briefing about obstacles tasks on projector.
Then our GTO took us to task area. Our obstacles task was there.
I did.
In 2 minutes. U have to do 11 obstacle.
ADVICE : sb se phly rassi pe latakny wali obstacle karo. Us k 11 no. Hoty hn. Nd bnda thak jye to phr nahi hoti. Obstacles ki achi trh practice karo . Or fit raho
GTO INTERVIEW:
While taking a person to his command task. GTO asks some questions.
These are usually personal.

COMMAND TASK:
One by one we did command tasks at different task zones.
1 person is commander and 5 boys are with him.
First he makes his plan in 1 min. And then he is given a time to complete it with his team.
Some people stand outside and command boys.
Some take initiation and in between task they command their team.
ADVICE: ap kisi se mashwara na karen. Ap commander hain. Aagy brhty huwe start karen darmiyan me ja kr phr apny boys ko aagy nikaleen.
FINAL GROUP TASK:
GTO will took you to a task zone and will tell you conditions and other things.
In our case, he just said "chest no. 3 , 6 , 7 whole land in in bound for you for 5 seconds"( is ka mtlb wo aaram se walk kr k end line tk phnch skty hn )
They took drum, bullies, planks and ran to finish line.
He then allowed other 2 members. They were clever. They picked 1 , 1 boy with their hands ??and ran to finish line CLEVER PERSONS.
in end we all ran to finish line on GTO's command.
ADVICE: achi tarah participate karo. Agr wo kahy k ap k lye zameen allow h to saman drum wgera ly k dhoor jao. Ye mt krna k planks ly jao. To baki kis trh aaen gy...?
Kisi ko utha k b ly jao to better h .
At the end , we were told to give our opinion regarding who is on what no. By performance including you.
Now last thing
DPT interview:
ADVICE : ye aik trick h jo hm ny b use ki thi
K jo jo interview dy k aarha tha hmary group ka , us se question puch puch k yad kr liye thy.

Then our day was ended.
4th DAY:
it was our last day we prepared and went to central hall. They gave us our transport charges.
They announced the name of students for re interview. And re tasks .
We took our cellphones from them and went to outside.
That was a remarkable event.
TIPS:
- interview me to the point answer
- do not copy other.
- don't lose your self
- selection is in the hands of GOD. If it is written in your fate you will get it.
So DO NOT DEPRESS IF YOU ARE NOT RECOMMENDED.
- there is facility of photographer. Have shots of memories.
